Hi, I’m Anjan - nice to meet you!
I’m a documentary assistant editor. I love the medium of documentary because I strongly believe telling inspiring stories from the perspectives of people that have actually experienced them can truly be a captivating experience. Combine that with carefully selected archival footage and B-roll and you’ve got an experience that can not only entertain but can change our lives for the better.
Documentary films are notorious for having hours upon hours of footage to sift through, but this does not scare me. I know the importance of keeping a clean and organized project and making sure every single clip is taken care of. Multigrouping, syncing, transcoding, you name it - I can get it done correctly and within the allotted time. However, I can also collaborate creatively to give ideas and feedback on cuts.
Being part of a team means having a shared devotion for the film and motivating each other to bring our best to the table. I thrive in that kind of environment.
One of the more prominent projects that I have worked on was Stax: Soulsville U.S.A, a 4 episode docuseries about the rise and fall of Stax Records. The series went on to win the Audience Award at SXSW, get nominated for an Emmy, and won the Peabody Documentary Award.
I’m within reach of New York City, and can work in person or remotely.
Confident in Adobe Premiere, AVID, and Adobe After Effects, and am fluent in English, Telugu, and Spanish.
